A founding partner of SKS Law, for over twelve years James' practice has focused almost exclusively on litigation. James has successfully represented clients in hearings and trials at all levels of Ontario's civil courts, as well as at the Federal Court, Federal Court of Appeal, and Tax Court of Canada. Although the subject matter of these disputes has been varied, James has significant experience acting for plaintiffs in libel and personal injury claims, including jury trials, as well as trade-mark infringement claims.
As James will tell you: "it's no secret that the vast majority of civil claims settle before trial. But, the key to good client focused and results oriented representation is to take advantage of that fact, by building a solid case early, and pressing a matter forward so that settlement is reached within the minimum of delay."
James understands the stress clients experience when involved in litigation, and therefore strives to push every claim to a quick and deserving settlement. As part of this process, James carefully manages clients expectations at every stage of a dispute, by delivering timely, concise and well grounded legal advice.
Brought up in Vancouver, British Columbia, James went east in 1998 to earn his law degree at the University of New Brunswick. Since 2002, James and his family, which now includes his two children, Amalya and Eliana, have proudly called Ottawa their home.
James est fier de servir ses clients en français.
